Notes on screen printing with water based ink--Laoer

The general public is paying more and more attention to environmental protection and food safety. In this respect, water based ink has natural advantages over solvent based ink. In order to meet the market demand, more and more manufacturers have changed to use water based ink. When using water based ink for printing production, the fineness, viscosity, drying speed and pH value of water based ink will directly affect the printing quality. In screen printing, the following points need special attention:

1. Pay attention to control the viscosity, fluidity, thixotropy and plasticity of water based ink.

2. pay attention to the control index of Water Based Ink. The control indexes of water based ink mainly include fineness, viscosity, PH value and drying speed, etc. The PH stabilizer is used to adjust and control the PH value of water based ink to make it stable at 8.0 ~ 9.5 to ensure the printing state of water based ink . At the same time, it can also adjust the viscosity of water based ink and dilute the ink.

3. When using the water based ink provided by Laoer, if it is left for a long time, it should be stirred evenly before being put on the machine. After measuring the viscosity, it should be poured into the ink tank. If the viscosity is not suitable, it can be adjusted with thinner or thickener, and the PH value of the ink should be controlled, which is generally 8.0 ~ 9.5. In the printing process, the viscosity of ink will increase and the PH value will decrease due to the volatilization of water, so it is necessary to observe the use of ink frequently. When it is found that the viscosity of ink increases or the PH value is out of control, thinner and PH stabilizer should be used to adjust it in time to ensure the stability of viscosity and pH value.

4. After printing, the remaining ink should be taken back to the corresponding original barrel or the cover of the ink tank should be tightly covered for use next time. Prevent conjunctiva, thickening or even drying due to ink surface. Water based ink should be stored in a ventilated and cool room, and the room temperature should be controlled at 5 ~ 45℃.

5. In general, water based ink is very suitable for high-speed printing. If the drying speed is too fast or the printing effect is not good when printing at low speed, a certain proportion of slow drying agent can be added. Slow-drying agent is used to reduce the drying degree of ink. Slow-drying agent can inhibit and slow down the drying speed of water based ink, prevent ink from drying on printing plates, and reduce printing failures such as blocking and pasting. Generally, the amount of slow drying agent should be controlled at 0 ~ 10% of the total ink. If the amount is too much, the ink will not be dried completely, and the printed matter will stick dirty or produce peculiar smell.

6. The ink remaining on the printing equipment after printing can be washed with clean water when it is not completely dried, and the ink that cannot be washed with clean water can be washed with cleaning agent.

7. The printability of water based ink is influenced by objective conditions such as printing conditions, substrate surface characteristics, environmental temperature and humidity, storage time, etc. Therefore, when it is used, it is necessary to make fine adjustments to water based ink with some additives to obtain the best printing effect.

8.As water based ink is a pure water based system, it should be taken not to mix water based ink with alcohol based ink and Solvent Based Ink or add organic solvent to ink to avoid printing quality problems.
